STLÍ is a collaborative platform for religious and life-stance organisations that promotes dialogue, cooperation and mutual understanding among people of diverse religious beliefs and life stances.
The organisation aims to foster mutual understanding among its member organisations, encourage constructive dialogue, facilitate the exchange of information and promote cooperation on matters of shared interest.
The platform also provides an opportunity for members to discuss challenges that may arise and work towards finding solutions. All member organisations participate on an equal footing and respect one another’s distinct identities, doctrines and practices.
Articles 2 and 3 of STLÍ’s statutes set out, among other objectives, the organisation’s commitment to promoting tolerance and respect among people of diverse religious beliefs and life stances, and to safeguarding freedom of religion or belief and other human rights.
These objectives are consistent with the [Statement of Principles adopted by the consultative platform on 4 November 2006](http://birt-stefnulysing-stli-2006). Informal cooperation among the organisations began that year and was formally established on 20 February 2025, when 27 religious and life-stance organisations founded STLÍ at an inaugural meeting held in Tjarnarsalur, Reykjavík City Hall. At the meeting, the founding members adopted the organisation’s statutes and elected its first board.
